Red Cross Helping Two Families after Apartment Fire in Glendale
Red Cross Helping Two Families after Apartment Fire (PHOENIX) March 24, 2010
– Grand Canyon Chapter volunteers are helping two families following an
apartment fire near 51st Ave. & Thunderbird in Glendale.
Five Red Cross emergency responders met with clients and made disaster
assessments to determine their immediate needs. The apartment manager is making
two apartments available for the families. Also, Grand Canyon Chapter volunteers
are providing seven adults with the means to obtain food, bedding and other
essentials. Volunteers also passed out comfort kits which include a comb,
toothbrush, toothpaste and soap.
Additionally, counselors are available to offer emotional support as people
start to come to grips with what happened.
Over the next several days, Grand Canyon Chapter caseworkers will monitor the
clients and provide referrals, as they begin their road to recovery.
The Grand Canyon chapter responded to 534 disasters during our last fiscal
