Red Cross Shelter in Parks Closed

(PHOENIX) June 18, 2010 – Red Cross volunteers have closed the shelter set up at Maine Consolidate School in Parks. Eleven people registered at the shelter on Wednesday night following the Eagle Rock wildfire evacuation. One person stayed overnight. No one came to the shelter yesterday.

Red Cross officials are in constant communication with emergency officials. If there is a need to reopen the shelter, volunteers are on standby and supplies are nearby.

Red Cross helps meet the immediate needs of disaster victims such as a safe place to stay and food. Anyone impacted by the Eagle Rock fire that needs Red Cross assistance is encouraged to call 1-800-842-7349.
