Red Cross Volunteers Help Two Families after Buckeye Fire
(BUCKEYE, AZ) July 15, 2010 — Five volunteers from the Grand Canyon Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to assist two families in Buckeye after a residential fire destroyed a home Tuesday evening.
A single-family home fire destroyed one home on Apache Street and forced the electricity to be turned off to another residence at the same location. Five people were displaced following the fire. Red Cross volunteers were there to ensure the families had a safe place to sleep and the means to obtain basic necessities such as food and clothing.
The Grand Canyon chapter responded to 534 disasters during our last fiscal year. The Red Cross is able to meet the immediate needs of our neighbors in need through the generous support of Arizonans. If you would like to make a donation to help victims of a local disaster like this one, please call 602-336-6660 or go to www.arizonaredcross.org.
